Visiting Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, Illinois is a great experience. Shedd Aquarium has over 1 million gallons of water and thousands of aquatic animals to explore! Shedd Aquarium is one of the world’s largest aquariums with exhibits ranging from an Amazon rainforest to the Shedd family home. Plus, Shedd Aquarium offers free parking for guests so there is no need to worry about paying for parking when you arrive! When should I visit the Shedd Aquarium?

Shedd Aquarium is open every day of the year except for Christmas and Thanksgiving Day. Shedd Aquarium hours vary depending on time of year, but generally Shedd can be visited from 12:00pm to close Monday through Friday, 11am to close Saturday and Sunday. Shedd closes early at a different date during each season so guests should check ahead if they plan on visiting Shedd in the winter or summer months!

Different exhibits are also open at varying times throughout each week (see below). Guests who want to visit one specific exhibit will need to make sure that it is currently scheduled as an “Open” event. Otherwise, visitors may find themselves disappointed when they arrive at their destination only to find out that the aquarium is closed.

What are the most interesting things at Shedd Aquarium?

Shedd Aquarium’s newest exhibit, Caribbean Reef is now open! Visitors can enjoy a journey through the underwater world of Belize for just $38.95 (plus tax) and gain insight into the wonders of this diverse region from its coral reefs to mangrove forests.

Shedd also has aquariums showcasing some incredible creatures like penguins, seals, otters, jellyfish and many more marine animals in their habitats on the first floor below ground level. One especially popular area is called “The Window” where guests can get an up close experience with one or two different species at any given time – Shedd offers self guided tours twice daily so visitors are able to learn about each creature while exploring our oceans home.

Can I take my kids to Shedd Aquarium?

Yes, Shedd Aquarium has a phenomenal kid’s area complete with interactive exhibits and animal meet-and-greets. Shedd also offers an activity book for kids of all ages to keep them entertained as they explore the aquarium – it even comes with stickers!

Is Shedd Aquarium wheelchair accessible?

Shedd Aquarium is handicap accessible throughout most areas including our second floor galleries which provide views onto some of Chicago’s busiest streets without ever leaving the building. Shedd also provides assisted listening devices in each show theatre to accommodate guests who are hearing impaired or hard of hearing. Finally, Shedd welcomes service animals into all facilities so anyone can experience these amazing creatures up close!
